Chrysanthemum dress

Today's customer(anonymous)picked up the dress with the kimono sleeve in the chrysanthemum pattern and the furoshiki bag to get ready for her next trip.Looks very stylish with her hair and glasses! You can also unbutton and wear it as a spring jacket too.

Nombe

Recently, "Izakaya," Japanese pub style restaurants where you can have sake with small dishes, are becoming very popular in San Francisco.
My favorite one is "Nombe" (meaning someone who likes to drink heartily) in the Mission area.
最近サンフランシスコではパブのように日本酒を飲みながら小皿料理を食べれる”居酒屋”スタイルの日本食レストランが人気です。私が最近気に行っている居酒屋さんはミッション地区にある”NOMBE"（日本語の飲んべえから来てる？）です。



They offer the typical Japanese "Izakaya" style food like the coroquette and chicken drum, but they also have a Californian flavor mixed in.
Above is one of their very popular menu, "Mission Motsu," a spicy grilled tripe with lime and Iriko (small fish) with ginger, garlic, and scallion. Yum!
ここにはコロッケや鳥手羽などの典型的な居酒屋メニューがありますが、少しカリフォルニア風の味をミックスしてあります。上の写真は一番人気のメニュー、”ミッション・もつ"。もつをスパイシーに味付けしてライムで味付けしてあります。そしてしょうがとニンニクと青ネギで味付けされたいりこ。うまい！




Here is a sweet corn korokke with huitlacoche aioli (Mexican corn truffle).
What a great mix of Japanese food and Mexican flavor! Very Mission-like!
コーンコロッケ。ウィトラコーチェ（メキシコではよく食べられていますが、実はとうもろこしに生えるカビの一種でソースによく使われるようです。。）でできたソースが添えられています。日本料理とメキシカン料理が程よくミックスされているのがとてもミッションぽいです。




This is the owner Gil, who speaks Japanese very fluently. He recommended this sake from Kyushu to drink with the grilled tripe.
(And it was the perfect combination!)
If you don't know anything about sake, don't fret. He will help you choose the best sake that perfectly matches the food.
They also offer the traditional japanese style brunch (with a bowl of rice with natto)on sat/sun!
オーナーのジルさん。日本でお酒の勉強をされていたので日本語ぺらぺらです。もつと一緒に食べるように九州産のお酒を選んでくれました。（完璧な組み合わせでした！）
日本酒の事を全く知らなくてもご心配なく。ジルさんがその日のメニューにあわせた日本酒をチョイスしてくれます。
土曜日、日曜日には旅館で食べれるような伝統的な日本の朝ご飯も食べれます。（ご飯と納豆つき！）
