Cute Pair

Today's customers are Haozhou and Fei, visiting from Oregon. Haozhou got a pair of tabi shoes with the "Radish flower" pattern and Fei got a pair of alabaster pattern in navy. It is very inspiring to see men wearing flower patterns, and I love how they are wearing the shoes with shorts. Their outfits complement each other in a very cute way!

Textile design 13: Whisper

Today's featured textile pattern is "whisper", used for the all season scarf and v-neck shirt.





This pattern that mixes small stripes and gingham is among my favorite pattern type.
By changing the width of the stripe, density, and changing the space between, I make the pattern more attractive.
I always achieve making these patterns by just sketching randomly.



細かい縞や格子などを組み合わせた模様は、僕が好きな分野の一つだ。
その線の太さや密度、またその組み合わせや間（ま）の変化で模様の魅力を演出していく。
こういう模様は何となく手を動かしているとうまれてくる。

Fishermans pants

Today's customer is Uma. She got our Fisherman's pants made of Ise cotton. Looks great with her white top, doesn't it?
She loved our pants so much she also got our harem pants with two tone pattern. This pair of pants is inspired by traditional Middle Eastern pants. While it looks like a skirt from first glance, it is actually composed of two pant legs that balloon out. With it's two tone pattern and unique shape, these pants are definitely a statement piece, and also very comfortable as they are made with 100% ise cotton.

*The harem pants are completely sold out but we will getting them in different designs soon! Stay tuned!

Textile Design 11: Miyako Dance

Today's featured textile design is "miyako dance". This new textile design just came out last month, and is used in our tenugui towel.

"Miyako Dance" is seen when the beautiful Maiko (apprentice geisha) from Kyoto's Gion district all dress up in their gorgeous kimono and perform their dance, known as Miyako dance, among a stage full of blooming cherry blossom trees.
This is a staple event for Kyoto in April, having been celebrated for around 130 years.
Maiko, lined up together and wearing blue kimono with a cherry blossom pattern, look truly glamorous. Through the image of Kimono, Kyoto's enfevered richness is expressed, welcoming in the Spring season.


爛漫と咲き乱れる桜の舞台に華やかな着物を着た
祇園のきれいどころが勢ぞろいする〝都をどり〟。
130年以上も続いていて、4月の京都には
なくてはならないものになっている。
青い地に桜の模様をあしらった着物で
居並ぶ様は何ともあでやか。
その着物のイメージで春を迎えて
盛り上がる京都の濃密さを歌い上げた。

Black short boots+scarf

Today's customer is Akiko. Akiko recently discovered SOU・SOU through reading an interview of our textile designer Wakisaka in ”Tennen Seikatsu(natural life)"magazine. She picked up a pair of black short boots, and also our all season cotton scarf with flower pattern. Her friends' daughter also wanted to try our tabi shoes too, but they are still a little bit big for her...maybe next year! Thank you for modeling for us, Akiko san!
